« Une recollection » : la disposition des Oeuvres d’Ambroise Paré

Résumé

Ambroise Paré, en 1575, compose le recueil collectif de ses oeuvres. La définition même de la chirurgie implique un ordre qui inclut anatomie, opérations chirurgicales et matière médicale. Pourtant, les Oeuvres sont, plus qu’une practica, un bâtiment où se contemple le corps humain et où s’affirme la dignité du chirurgien, « ministre de la nature ». À une composition tripartite et linéaire, se superpose alors l’ordre d’une apologie.

Abstract

In 1575, Ambroise Paré composed the selection of his works in a book. His definition of surgery implied an order that included anatomy, surgical operations, as well as medical subjects. However, his works were more than a practica, i.e. a whole structure where the human body can be contemplated and where the surgeon, being The Minister of Nature, can assert his dignity. The order of an apologia can thus be superimposed above this linear composition in three parts.
